In
1979, the current cafeteria was built along with the additional
industrial arts classrooms underneath it.
In
1989 an additional 12 classroom annex was built, which currently
holds both 6th grade teams and several 8th grade classrooms.
All of the portable classrooms were removed.
In
1993, an addition was built on to Hixson High School to
house the ninth grade and Hixson Junior High was converted
to Hixson Middle.

Today,
after nearly 100 years of education on this site, Hixson
Middle is still a place of positive changes. With mostly
volunteer labor and donated materials, renovations to our
Sports complex and field house were completed in 2002. The
renovated football field was dedicated to our longtime supporter
and former Principal Everett Fairchild, in 2002.
In
2006, plans for our new building were approved and construction
bids are to be in by June 14, 2007. The new school will
be located off of Old Hixson Pike, near Hixson High School.
