HIXSON MIDDLE SCHOOL
The Principal's Message
Welcome to Hixson Middle School. We are a school of
500 students in grades six through eight. Our school has a deep history
in the community, as it was established in the late 1800's. We are
excited that plans were recently unveiled for a new Hixson Middle
School that will be close to Hixson High School.
Hixson Middle School provides blocks of 70 minutes
for academic core subjects. In the eighth grade students have the
opportunity to gain high school credit for Algebra I, Physical Science,
Careers Management Systems, Spanish and Chorus. Two blocks of 45 minutes
are dedicated to a variety of exploratory courses: Spanish, Physical
Education & Health, Bible, art, technology, music, chorus, band
and orchestra. H.M.S. has maintained its accreditation by the Southern
Association of Colleges and Schools since 1959. Our school provides
a rigorous curriculum to prepare our students for high school and
college.
We have an outstanding faculty and staff that provide
a safe, positive, and welcoming environment for our students. Our
faculty collaborates and plans together to best meet the needs of
each student. We are committed to helping each student discover his
or her own talents and to provide the support and guidance to ensure
success for all. As you come to visit our classrooms, we hope you
